Gabriel Martinelli has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal.

Gabriel Martinelli has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal, according to the club.

When the Gunners signed the then-Ituano youngster for £6 million in 2019, he was virtually unknown to European football fans.

Martinelli, on the other hand, has since established himself as a regular in Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup at the Emirates Stadium.

The 21-year-old has been an ever-present in the Premier League this season, contributing seven goals and two assists from 19 starts.

Martinelli, on the other hand, has never been in danger of leaving Arsenal, with his current contract running until 2024 and a two-year option on top of that.

Nonetheless, with Arsenal leading the domestic standings, there has been a sense of urgency to reward players who have helped guide the North London club to the top.

Arsenal has now officially confirmed that successful negotiations with the Brazil international have taken place, extending his stay at the Emirates Stadium in the long term.

“We’re delighted Gabi has signed a new long-term contract,” Arteta said, according to the club’s official website. Every time he puts on the shirt, our supporters see his quality and energy, and he’s the same in training, with his hard work and positive values.

The Brazil international, 21, joined from Brazilian side Ituano in the summer of 2019 and has made 111 appearances in all competitions.
